Purpose of processing

Rolling is the final phase of the fabric ennobling process, in which the fabric, finished and controlled,
it is rolled packaged on cardboard tubes to be sent to the customer, with a
tag hanging on the selvedge which indicates:
– the serial number of the piece,
– the name or number of the article,
– the length and weight of the piece.

Processing technology

The main parts of this machine are represented by two sliding cloth-holder chains
in the relevant guides (see figure A, point 1).
In the first part of the machine two articulated or mobile guides, controlled by two electronic tape pickers,
they guarantee regular advancement of the fabric according to its width. In the
second part chains and guides ensure the advancement of the fabric in a parallel and equidistant manner,
with electronic adjustment based on the height of the finished fabric, to obtain perfect alignment
selvages on the rolled fabric.
The stacked piece passes:
through a cloth stretcher (fig. A, 2) and accompanied by the idle rollers (fig. A, 3) it reaches the
feeding (fig. A, 4) at variable speed.
With the help of two stitching brushes (fig. A, 5), the fabric is pinned in the selvedge
from the pins of the two rag chains. The two electronic probes, the movement of the guides and the advancement
of the two chains convey the fabric in a regular manner towards the end part
of the machine, where:
two cylinders (fig. A, 6) which rotate at variable speeds with respect to the chain allow to obtain
rolls (fig. A, 7) more or less compact.
To eliminate any slight folding creases, the machine can be equipped with an or
multiple steaming tanks (fig. A, 8) and radiant batteries (fig. A, 9) for drying.
A meter counter and a scale provide the data necessary to print the identification card
of the rolled up piece.

Execution of the work

Once the operator has placed the piece to be rolled on the front of the machine, he:
when loading the piece by programming the rolling height;
to the possible introduction of steam on the piece;
to the relative activation of the radiant unit, based on the needs of the item to be rolled;
to the adjustment of the forward speed and compactness of the roller;
the arrangement of the cardboard tube on which the fabric is wrapped;
at the start of rolling;
upon extraction of the packaged roll after automatic separation from the next piece.
Finally, it compiles the card, which can be partly automatic, and pins it on the card
selvedge.

Most recurring defects

The failure of the right thread at the beginning and during rolling can lead to defects which
require reconditioning of the incorrectly rolled piece.
